4 Months
Well, I haven’t blogged in a while, but I don’t really have anything to blog about. I’m in that weird waiting period from initial stress and planning until the oh my god it’s almost here (about 2 months before) stage. So… I just don’t have anything to blog about!! Sorry!
5 Months!
Well, this past Sunday marked 5 months until the wedding. I’m ready – so ready. All of the wedding planning stress is gone – for now at least. I imagine once I get down to about 2 months and there’s stuff to do again, it will all come back, but right now, it’s gone. And it’s great. We ordered our rings on Saturday. We’ll have them by the end of June. It’s a little early, I know, but our jeweler does a 20% off wedding bands day once a year, and Saturday was it. So at least we have that taken care of. What else…
We ordered the bridesmaid dresses a few weeks ago. Everyone looks great, in my opinion. I just found the flower girl dresses. My mother just got her “mother of the bride” dress which is gorgeous and so flattering on her. I’m so happy she’s getting dressed up for the occasion – it’s been so long since any of us kids have seen her dressed up! Apparently, we’re supposed to go in the next few weeks to rent and pick out the tuxedos. The idea for the favors is really cool – I think everyone will like it. I’m imagining that here in the next couple months I’ll have to do my hair and make-up consultations. Actually, probably not until about August. See – like I said, pretty much done for now. I got the maps that will go out with the invitations – so cute!!! I just love them. We’ll be going to the rental place soon to rent everything. The visit to the house was good, there is room to do everything (and fit everyone) I had planned but it’s going to take some tweaking. The tables will have to be pushed to the side while the ceremony is taking place, and then during the cocktail hour there will be quick “wardrobe change” so to call it. The tables will be moved and the chairs places, and whala! Reception.
All of the little stuff I have now: the guestbook/pen, tiara, veil, unity sand, cake serving set, toasting flutes, garter, ring pillow, flower girl baskets, cake topper…
Oh, and an update on PJ’s football schedule. “Senior Night” is the night before the wedding. That’s the game where all the seniors are honored and are walked onto the field by their parents, which was supposed to be me, Paul and Lisa (his mom). Well – needless to say, we can’t go and he’s going to miss the rehearsal dinner. I’m so bummed we’re going to miss that night for him. He’s going to have Connie and her husband (best friend’s parents) walk him down instead. We will be going to the 2 games he asked us to go to though, as well as his graduation in May so hopefully that will make up for it.
I’m sooooo excited for the honeymoon. I really wish we could go now. =)
Well, I guess that’s all I have for now! Until next time…
Awe!
So the stationer sent the “final” invitation package sample for approval and I asked Paul this morning if he wanted to see it and he said he would look at it later. Whatever. So I just talked to him and he said “Honey, I looked at the invitation and I almost cried”. I thought he was lying, but he said when he read the little scripture at the top he really did almost cry. Awe!!!! Too cute… My little hubby bubby poo….
Bridezillas
You Might be a Bridezilla If…
…You wonder why that mean ole mayor is being such a hard ass about a lil ole tickertape parade.
…You think it’d be “really awesome” if the schoolchildren of some country – oh, say Luxembourg or Canada – could gather and hold candles and arrange themselves so they spelled out you and your groom’s names from above.
…you think it’s OK to drain your 401K. After all, what’s a little thing like pushing gambling with your security and paying whopping withdrawl penalty when you can have an ice sculpture on every damn table.
…You don’t think spray-painting 100 doves gold is the teensiest bit “over the top.”
…The Fire Marshal has come to your house to plead with you in person.
…You don’t understand why your fiancé is being so pig-headed about letting your Chihuahua “Snooky” be his best man.
…Your reception involves speedboats, hot-air balloons, or fireworks.
…Your reception involves camels in any way.
…Your reception involves the Secret Service in any way.
…Your reception involves NASA in any way.
…Your reception involves the Pope in any way.
…you instruct the caterers to never look you in the eye and to always refer to you as “Her Majesty, The Bride.”
…your floral arrangements will leave several countries bereft of flora.
… Al Gore calls to say he’s concerned your floral needs will affect the Earth’s fragile eco-balance.
Rehearsal Dinner
Well it’s official! We finally re-planned the rehearsal dinner. It’s going to be at the Woodland Hills Hilton, which is where I have all of my out-of-town guests staying, so that works out well. It will be in one of the ballrooms, plated dinner, the whole thing… Should be nice. It’s also the weekend of my grandfather’s 75th birthday so we’re having a little cake to celebrate that.
I’m glad that’s over with! Everything is pretty much figured out now…
Funny thing, the rehearsal dinner is going to be much nicer than the actual wedding dinner! Whatever… guess it doesn’t really matter! I guess the wedding will be more of a party, and the rehearsal dinner will be more of a “dinner”. Haha. Maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to be!
6 Months
Well, today being April 18th, we now have exactly 6 months until I am officially Mrs. Blair. How about that.
I can remember telling Paul 6 months ago that we had exactly 1 year. That didn’t feel like 6 months. I’m guessing the next 6 won’t either. So – here’s to a quick summer and my wedding day.
I’d have to say that for still having 6 months until the wedding, I’ve got everything pretty much under control. Aside from the now non-existent rehearsal dinner we’re trying to figure out, everything else is set.
Deposits are paid on almost everything (expect the rentals, which isn’t a big deal), the dress is purchased, the bridesmaids dresses will be ordered in a few weeks, all the little details are worked out. I went and put the deposit on the cake last week and that was the last major contract item.
I booked our plane tickets for our honeymoon the other day. That was exciting. I also booked our shore excursions (St. Marteen, St. Kitts, St. Lucia). Very exciting. We’ll be having creole lunches on catamarans, floating around on beach floats in crystal clear water, kayaking turquoise blue water… And, we figured out that we technically won’t have to stay at a hotel at all inbetween the flights and cruise, which is awesome. We fly out late Sunday night, the 19th, we’ll have about 2 hours to putz around in Ft. Lauderdale before we board the ship (which the cruise lady I talked to the other day told me we have VIP check-in and won’t even have to stand in line – how cool is that). When we get back, we’ll go straight to the airport and arrive back here late Tuesday night (the 28th). And I have to say, I’m getting smarter in my old age. There were 2 separate departing flights after our cruise gets back that put us in Burbank at the same time that night, but either gave us a bit of a wait in Ft. Lauderdale, or a longer layover in New York (whenever we go to the east coast, we like to stop in NY and sit on the benches and watch the crazy New Yorkers drive by, it’s one of our passions, ha-ha). I was opting for the longer layover in NY, obviously, but that flight left FLL much earlier than the other one. Luckily, I decided to call and find out exactly what time we would be physically off the ship, even though it docks at 8 a.m. Well it’s not until about 11, and the first flight was 11:45 – so, we’ll be leaving on the later flight. We still get to stop in NY though. =)
What else – tomorrow me, Paul and Keeshunna (coordinator) are going up to E’s house to get measurements, etc. before we go the rental place. I’m really crossing my fingers that everything I want to do will actually fit. We shall see.
It’s been a long time…
Well I started the blog and haven’t written in it since then. What is new… I hired a wedding coordinator which has helped tremendously. I ordered my dress. I’ve gotten much closer with all of the planning.
The place that Paul and I met (so naturally is very sentimental to us) is closing tonight. That was also where we were supposed to have our rehearsal dinner. It’s where we spend at least 1 or 2 days/nights a week hanging out with our friends watching sports. So the fact that it will be no longer has a lot of our friends upset – but I don’t think any of their feelings even come close to comparing to the fact that Paul and I can never go back to our sentimental spot. A lot of couples can go to the place they met on anniversaries and other special occassions. Not us – it will be a perfume shop I’m sure. I’m really torn up about it. I got a little emotional on Saturday night when we were all there and were talking about it. I know tonight will be rough. Just thinking about it now has me upset. Many of you know that I’m an extremely sentimental person – sometimes too much so. For those of you that don’t – there it is. I’m a big ball of sad sentimental values.
So needless to say when it comes to the wedding planning, I now my wedding coordinator now has to find a new place to have the rehearsal dinner. At this point I don’t even care where it is. The whole reason of having it where we were going to have it was because that’s where we met. We can have it at friggin’ McDonald’s now for all I care.
Till next time…
